Sketching BLAST II

In less than a year's time, the BLAST project will have reached its end point. Following the final BLAST conference, currently being planned for September 2012 in Edinburgh, the 17 BLAST partners are expected to have fulfilled the project's goals. Over the course of the BLAST project, it has been clear that while a number of critical results have been achieved, that there is still much work to be done - not least in terms of climate change-oriented coastal planning, provision of state-of-the-art maritime information and integration of data across national, regional and ecological boundaries.
Therefore, several BLAST partners have initiated a discussion about a follow-on project to BLAST, where the valuable linkages among project partners can be taken advantage of. New partners and perspectives will also be welcomed to a next project.
